In this Olympic year, churches across York are putting on loads of special events that are arranged with you in mind.

Wherever you see one of these banners, or wherever you see the ‘More than Gold’ logo, there is something happening for you!

Here are some highlights of the events happening near you:

Acomb

June 3rd at 1pm The Big Picnic on Acomb Green. Bring your own food or buy from the BBQ (£1). Fun and games for the children. Free face-painting

July 4th at 7.30pm, Sports Quiz at the Gateway Centre. Bring a team with you. Chaplain and players from York FC present.

City Centre

Jubilation Cafe on Saturday 2 June from 10am in St Michael le Belfrey. The church will be suitably decorated and we will celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee with a great cafe all day

Clifton

He’s climbed Everest! Chris Brown MBE tells his story in pictures Tues 29th May 7.30pm Clifton Parish Church. Free entry and refreshments.
2012 Sports Quiz Wed 30th May 8pm York Sports Club, Shipton Road. Bring a team or join one on the night.
Does God Heal Today? Bishop Martin wasn’t sure, then his wife was healed! Thurs 31st May 7.30pm hear his story and receive prayer for healing too.
More Than Gold Celebration Sat 2nd June 7.30pm with music and inspiring speech by Andy Roberts who works with street kids in Bazil. 
Queens Jubilee Picnic on Kingsway 12noon onwards – bring a picnic – with bouncy castle, games etc
More Questions starts Tuesday 12th June 7.30pm-9pm (for 5 weeks). Ask all the questions about believing, life, death etc More info: 655071

Foxwood

June 2nd at 7.30pm Libby Redman in concert at Foxwood Community Centre (Bellhouse Way), with Barry Woodward telling his inspiring story of freedom from the dark world of drug addiction. More details (01904) 338903

Huntington

Family Fun Day  Saturday 2 June, 11 am—2 pm at St Andrew’s
A family-friendly event with inflatables, face-painting, BBQ food and much more. Entry is free.
Big Jubilee Cream Tea Sunday 3 June, 2—5 pm at All Saints’
Come and enjoy tea and scones in celebration of Queen Elizabeth II’s Diamond Jubilee.

New Earswick

Olympic Sports Quiz Friday 1 June, 7 pm at New Earswick Bowls Club
An Olympic sports quiz with a hearty supper of pie, chips and peas provided.

Rawcliffe

The Golden Year’s – full week of events for Elderberries – ring Derek on 637638 for details.
Hear a Rugby star’s story! Garin Jenkins (58 Caps for Wales) 7.30pm for 8pm start Temple Hall, York St John University.
