On 22nd February, 54 Ministers and Leaders from One Voice met together in the St Cuthbert’s centre to inaugurate the new York prayer room.
Donated by St Michael’s and part of the St Cuthbert’s Centre, this new initiative allows a ‘boiler room’ to be set up in the city. Initially open Monday to Friday 9am – 5.30pm, this is another step towards a permanent 24/7 presence in the city.
‘Boiler room’ is a term coined by the 24/7 movement which you can read more about in Red Moon Rising, the book describing the movements beginnings.
Carl Tinnion and his YWAM team have put a lot of work into getting the room ready and making it a place where you would want to come and pray. There is space for quiet contemplation, room to be artistic in your worship, a cross and candles as well as scriptures and quotes etched on the walls and ceiling.
There is a great serenity about the place and without doubt it will be popular with those who want to pray.
Staffed by YWAM volunteers, the room is available for you just to drop in and pray. On Mondays and Wednesdays the room is bookable between 9am and 2pm, the rest of the week it is just open for those passing.
What a great place to stop before you shop?
