Launch of Cinnamon Faith Action Audit Results

G Hutchinson CT AuditOn Friday 13th June 2015 One Voice launched the results of their audit of the benefits brought to the city of York by people of faith, in conjunction with the Cinnamon Trust. Present were the chief executive of the council, Kersten England as well as a number of directors & councillors, the MP for York Central and other interested parties.

Introduced by Graham Hutchinson the audit was presented in the context of 57 similar audits that took place nationwide this year revealing that the faith groups involved (93.8% Christian)gave £21 million in volunteer hours per annum and benefited 3.5 million people.

In York 33 groups (of which 91% were Christian) who responded to the audit, ran 249 projects and gave £2.7 million of volunteer hours from almost 1900 volunteers that benefitted over 49000 people.

Kersten England gratefully received the report on behalf of the council and said that she knew the church was the largest provider of youth services in the city, but was bowled over by some of the positive figures in this document. She also thanked One Voice for their support over her six years in office.

Graham then interviewed Mary Barton, a long time volunteer and she spoke of the benefits she receives through her work.

Finally Peter Smith spoke about the work of the Cinnamon Trust and thanked One Voice for making the audit work locally.
