One Voice Gospel Choir

Summer 2012 saw the celebration of the 800th anniversary of the granting of the charter of York. As part of the celebrations a brand new community gospel choir was launched by One Voice York.

For many, this was their first experience of being in a choir and performing in public. The age range of the choir was from 8 to 80, so it was a truly inclusive project.

Community Music Practitioner Libby Redman directed the project on behalf of One Voice. The main performance was in Tower Gardens on Saturday afternoon July 14th 2012.

See Chair of One Voice, David Casswell promoting the project, a warm up performance in York Minster, and then watch clips of the final performance here and  here.

Around 600 people listened to songs from the choir during their 2 hour performance.
