Pentecost in York Minster

Pentecost is approaching and once again on June 12th we plan to gather together in York Minster from all our denominations and church streams for an evening of worship and prayer. Plan to be there with us!

The evening will start with a time for all the family, then concentrate in creative prayer on our own city and its needs.

Finally an opportunity to worship and receive a fresh anointing of the Holy Spirit.

The evening will end, with blazing torches carried out into the night air!

Next year, 2012, is going to be a significant one for us as a city as well as a nation.  Not only are the Olympic Games coming to the UK in 2012,– the whole world coming to us – but York is celebrating the 800th anniversary of the signing of its charter as a city.  The City of York Council is planning many celebrations throughout the year, and we as churches will have wonderful opportunities to join in as we see fit.

At the Pentecost prayer event we will be looking ahead!

There is no formal event on the City walls this time – but there is nothing to stop churches or groups of churches praying on the walls themselves first.

Please do bring flags and banners to the Minster, there will be plenty of opportunity to “Raise the Banner, Fly the Flag” – all for the name of Jesus.
