Summer Soul

Hold the date : 29 June – 7 July 2008

Every summer, St Michael le Belfrey hosts a student mission to the city. The vision is that students from churches all over York – and beyond –  get together to get the news of Jesus out of our church buildings and onto the streets.

Last year was amazing. They saw over 70 students, from 21 different churches, come together for ten days of mission to York.

This year in light of Hope ’08 and the call to ‘do more, do it together and do it in word and action’ the vision is even BIGGER. Whichever church you worship at, whether you’re a student or on a gap-year, just finished your A-levels, or you’re just willing to devote that whole week to mission, you’re welcome!

The first week of July 2008 will be about:

    * radical worship, prayer, and bible teaching
    * training for mission in both word and action
    * late-night outreach to clubbers and pubbers
    * daytime outreach to the centre of York: shoppers, tourists, kids, the elderly, office-workers, home-makers, street-people…. and more people!
    * Street surveys about faith and spirituality, opening the church as a café serving free coffee and cake.
    * love in action: practical projects meeting the needs of local communities
    * digging, painting, preaching, graffiti cleaning, building, dancing, drumming, busking, photographing, baking, balloon modelling…
    * whatever your thing is, bring it and do it!

The mission will cost £40 which includes lunch and tea for the whole mission.

Application forms will be available soon, but you can register your interest now by emailing students@stmichaelsyork.org
